WWE, Yahoo Take Leader Positions in June
by Jason Hahn

According to the latest comScore Media Metrix numbers, the WWE Web site was the top gaining property from May to June 2007, while Yahoo! maintained its leadership position in the list of top 50 overall Web properties for June.

Thanks to the Chris Benoit news, and maybe a bit of help from the faked Vince McMahon murder, the WWE site saw its audience increase from 3.88 million in May to 8.41 million in June, a 117% increase. It ranked 112th overall in June in terms of unique visitors.

Hearst Digital Media saw its audience increase 77% during the same period, while The Mozilla Organization realized a 53% jump in its audience size.

Coca-Cola Company (43%), Lime.com (41%), Job.com (38%), ProjectPlaylist.com (36%), Buzznet (34%), Mars, Inc. (34%), and DIGG.com (31%) also saw strong increases in its audience.

In terms of total unique audience, Yahoo! sites remained king with 133.1 million unique visitors in June. Google sites were second with 123.6 million unique visitors, while Time Warner Network was third with 123.4 million unique visitors in June.

Microsoft sites (116.8 million), Fox Interactive Media (83.6 million), eBay (81.2 million), Amazon.com (53.3 million), Ask Network (52.6 million), Wikipedia sites (47.0 million), and Apple Inc. (44.1 million) rounded out the top 10.

There were a total of 178.8 million unique U.S. online users in June 2007.

The numbers reflect users accessing the Internet from home, work, and university.
