Asian Sites Get Most Visits Per Visitor
by Jason Hahn

Data recently released by comScore Networks revealed the top worldwide Web sites in terms of visits per visitor in February 2007, and neither Google, Yahoo!, nor Microsoft were in the top three.

NHN Corp., Tencent Inc., and Rising.com.cn were the top three sites, in that order, in terms of average visits per visitor to their Web sites. All three are Asian Web properties.

"While each of the "visits" metrics offers a different measure of frequency, "average visits per visitor" is the most illustrative of return visits per individual during the course of a month. Used in concert with the "unique visitors" metric, this measure can help give a more comprehensive view of a site’s performance," the report indicated.

NHN Corp. received 33 average visits per visitor, while Tencent Inc. received 31, and Rising.com.cn received 29.

Google sites were fourth on the list with an average visits per visitor number of 24, while Microsoft sites followed behind with 22.

Facebook was sixth with an average visits per visitor figure of 22, and Yahoo! followed behind in seventh place with 21.

United-Internet sites, Time Warner Network, and Fox Interactive Media rounded out the top 10 list.

In terms of the top global Web properties purely in terms of unique visitors in February, Microsoft sites were top with 507.3 million unique visitors. Google sites (503.0 million), Yahoo! sites (459.0 million), and Time Warner Network (256.2 million) rounded out the top four on that list, to no one’s surprise.

EBay, Wikipedia sites, Amazon sites, Fox Interactive Media, CNET Networks, and Apple Computer Inc. fill in the rest of the top 10 spots on this list.

These numbers may change slightly when metrics companies begin taking account of AJAX-based pages more effectively.
