by Jason Hahn

The most recent comScore figures show that Google led the search engine rankings yet again in October 2007. It was the only one of the top five search engines to gain share points compared to the previous month.

The qSearch data for the U.S. market showed that Google handled 58.5% of total searches in October, a 1.5 point increase compared to September’s 57.0% share.

Yahoo! Sites garnered 22.9% of all searches in the U.S., a 0.8 point drop from the previous month’s 23.7% share.

Microsoft Sites handled 9.7% of all queries, a 0.6 point decrease from September’s 10.3% market share.

Ask Network held onto its 4.7% share, which remained unchanged since September. Time Warner Network handled 4.2% of all searches, a drop from the previous month’s 4.3% share.

According to comScore qSearch 2.0, 10.5 billion queries were conducted in October, an 11.8% increase from the 9.4 billion queries conducted in September. Google handled over 6.1 billion queries, a 14.8% increase from the previous month’s load. Ask Network saw a 10.7% increase in the total number of queries it conducted in October compared to September, while Time Warner Network saw a 9.4% increase.
