Google Tops Search Engines in July
by Jason Hahn

Recent figures released by Nielsen//NetRatings shows that Google is, once again, the top search provider in the U.S. The numbers collected for the month of July 2007 show that Google handled 4.1 billion queries during the month, or 53.3% of all searches. This is year-over-year growth of 49.3% for the search giant.

Yahoo! was second on the list with 20.1% of all U.S. queries, or 1.6 billion queries. This reflects year-over-year growth of 15.9%.

MSN/Live was third with 13.6% of all online searches, or 1.1 billion queries. This reflects year-over-year growth of 94.9% for the search engine, the largest growth of any top 10 search engine.

AOL was fourth with 5.2% of all queries, or 408 million searches, which shows year-over-year growth of 14.9%.

Ask.com was fifth with 1.8% of all queries, or 144 million searches, which shows a year-over-year decline of 3.9%.

My Web Search (0.9%), BellSouth Search (0.5%), Comcast Search (0.5%), Dogpile.com (0.3%), and My Way Search (0.3%) rounded out the top 10 list.
