CRITICAL MASS COMBINES MEDIA AND MARKETING DIVISION UNDER SVP SCOTT SHAMBERG
by Press Release

CALGARY, AB and CHICAGO, IL – Critical Mass (www.criticalmass.com), an interactive services firm, part of the Omnicom Group, has appointed Scott Shamberg as senior vice president of its recently consolidated marketing and media division. He will be based in Critical Mass’ Chicago office.

The move enables Critical Mass to offer clients a holistic view of the digital experience and deliver integrated strategic solutions that include not only the Web component of each campaign, but also digital touch points such as mobile, emerging media, gaming, and events.

Shamberg, who has risen from director of eMarketing VP to SVP in four and a half years at Critical Mass, will oversee the new Media and Marketing division, a team of over 75 people in the client services, digital media, and emerging media departments.  He will be charged with crafting digital marketing strategies for Critical Mass’ client roster and will be responsible for growing an integrated approach to Critical Mass’ digital marketing services.

During his career at Critical Mass, Shamberg has developed eContact strategies for Dell and Mercedes-Benz, implemented several key, multi-channel strategies, and developed Critical Mass’ The Hive.  One key multi-channel digital strategy was the launch of the first video avatar to be utilized on Edmunds.com for Mercedes-Benz.  The Hive is Critical Mass’s emerging media lab where employees can immerse themselves in new technologies.  Overall, Shamberg’s efforts have greatly increased the revenue of Critical Mass’ eMarketing practice, leading the division to a 300% increase in media billings over the past two years.

Shamberg’s previous experience includes the position of director of product marketing at Yesmail, where he developed, implemented, and executed strategic marketing plans for products sold to elite clientele, including the launch of Yesmail’s Data Append email service.  Shamberg has also worked in various media, print, television, radio, alternative, and Internet and has overseen media planning for clients during stints at NSA Media and Kelly, Scott, and Madison.

“Scott’s experience in executing digital strategies will enable us to better serve our clients in this era of changing consumer habits,” said Dianne Wilkins, chief executive officer of Critical Mass. “We also look forward to his team’s comprehensive solutions for our clients that will reach across the digital media spectrum.”

Shamberg received his BA in Communications from the University of Iowa and achieved his MBA in Marketing and eCommerce from Loyola University in Chicago.
