Melissa Filipkowski
Clickbooth
In an industry where rules change by the second, your biggest protection is diversifying the verticals you work in to ensure you always have a steady base.
Keep a wide portfolio of accounts and offers in your repertoire and work with your AM's and Ad Reps to help you in any area where you don't have as much experience.

"That Extra Half an Inch"
In our fast paced industry, an hour is a week and an inch is a mile.
When it comes to managing relationships put in that extra inch of effort and the payoff will be a mile.
For example, send assets manually, crunch numbers for your affiliates, find out who the appropriate contact is for their accounting, operations, and sales and include them as needed in your emails to your account representatives.
After all, this is a relationship based industry and going above and beyond to provide exceptional customer service will not be left unnoticed, and your affiliates will appreciate it. J

Make sure your perfectionism is not pushing you over the limits.
We are often forced to get things done without having the actual strength left to complete the task according to the requirements.
Know when it is the time to stop. Things can be left for tomorrow, and your efficiency will be even higher when your mind is clear.

It takes two to tango – you talk to me and I talk to you.
Social media definitely helps in this game – LinkedIn or Facebook.
Communication in all forms really strengthens ties and can help people help each other.

When you first start to run offers, be sure to A/B test the offer with different networks or advertisers.
Sometimes you'll find that one company's version or page is converting better than another. You may even find out one of the companies is shaving leads from your account, which is completely unacceptable.
Always protect yourself from situations like this by A/B testing offers with a couple companies. If all goes well, pick the network that converts the best and make yourself the money you deserve!

"If you tell the truth, you don't have to remember anything."
-- Mark Twain.
Never lie. You can influence more friends and win more sales by playing stupid and getting the answers later.
I'll never forget this waitress who told her customers, "Today is my first day. I will make many mistakes." We tipped her heavily until 2 months later, she used the same line. Be honest.
