When marketing with email, remember to be creative and test all the different variables.
Many marketers focus on the email design (HTML, graphics, etc.) and forget about some of the basics, like subject lines and text based creatives. Optimizing these variables can have a major impact on your delivery rate and overall EPC.

Get out there and meet your affiliates. In our industry, it's easy to resort to just e-mail and IM but a friendly, authentic phone call or meeting face-to-face helps foster relationships. It'll set you apart and make you memorable.
Even if you're currently not doing business with your affiliate, if something comes up later, you'll be the first they reach out to.

Do your research when searching for new affiliates and contacts.
If you come across someone on Facebook, LinkedIn, etc., Google both their name and company. You'll be able to relate a more meaningful first message if you have some idea of what they do.

Always watch your traffic. It still amazes me the lengths that
people/groups will go through to fraud our industry & it's systems.
These fraud affiliates go through great lengths to infiltrate our networks and then push through bad/fake/bogus leads & sales which ultimately can do a huge amount of damage all the way down the line.
Do your best to watch all traffic and know all your affiliates on a personal level, it'll save you a ton of time, money, & headaches!

Send your publishers multiple offers and creatives to test on the same niche. Promoting 3-4 offers on the same site, can give visitors the variety they need, and can result in better eCPMs for your publishers. Once you get the traffic through and analyze the data, you can make the appropriate changes together with your publishers so they can be more successful.

Hybryd Ads
A lot of educational-based advertisers are starting to crack down on what messages they will allow publishers to use while running offers.
For example, some terms I’ve noticed recently that are not permitted, include ‘President Obama,’ ‘Government Aid,’ ‘Stimulus,’ and ‘Pell Grants.’
Be sure that you are aware of these particular restrictions when pushing education campaigns, as you want to prevent any discrepancies down the road when it comes to creative compliancy.

A great area to build is knowledge in technology.
There are many types of tracking systems and technical issues can occasionally delay start dates.
If you don't have a helpdesk, designate someone in your company who has experience with your internal tracking system to quickly facilitate advertiser and affiliate set-ups if there are any issues.

“Being able to adapt is key to being successful in Affiliate Marketing.
There are constant changes in this industry and its part of your job to keep up with them. Keep track of all the regulations and guidelines being implemented on all methods of distribution and more importantly, find out what your Affiliates are doing to adapt to these new rules.
Be proactive and stay in the know so that you and your affiliates can stay afloat regardless of the changes, and not sink like the others.

Guppy Media
I can't stress enough the importance of maintaining accurate EPC and eCPM reports.
At Guppy, at minimum, we typically keep a running tab of 50+ top offers which are measured on total views and or open rates, view to click, total clicks, CTL and overall yeild.
Keeping tabs on an effective Key Performance Index, will allow you to master the knowledge base of your offers and ultimately win you the business. You are now more informed, and if you can prove performance by historic metrics, broken down by psychographics, it may save you from having to bump your payouts.

Remove all negative things from your life.
Negativity is the number one thing holding people back. Negative people tell
you that you can't do things or are constantly complaining about things totally beyond their control. You have
to either stop talking to these people or, if unavoidable, make sure to brush off their negativity like an annoying fly on your shoulder. Sometimes, it's that simple.

"The work you do today will pay off in coming weeks and months.
So, it's important to continually and consistently stay active within your network of business partners. Stay in touch, talk business and be sure to have the offers and affiliates needed to create a consistent ongoing business. Affiliates and offers will drop off and pick up on a regular basis, so you need to have replacements to remain constantly profitable and grow."

In this industry we tend to communicate through text messages, AIMs or Email...to really get something across or just form a great connection with clients, I find it best to pick up the phone and have a conversation where you can hear the other person's voice...and even better, if you can, try and schedule face to face meetings with your clients.
It leaves a much more lasting impression when people can put names to voices and faces.
