Digital Thoughts: Bridging the Gap, Part Two
For better and worse, our industry possesses some unique traits that, at the moment, enable a variety of employees to effectively live two work lives. With one group, the biggest threat does not involve trade secrets and conflict of interest so much as the precedent it sets.

Clickbooth
“It's always a good idea to clean up shop regularly. Consider exploring new traffic sources, testing out new landing page designs and cutting out any keywords that aren't converting for you.”

Often times, people are over concerned with the payout of an offer. That is not necessarily the greatest metric to go by. Split test offers with lower payouts and against different tracking systems to see if you can come out with higher eCPCs.

Get to know a personal, fun fact about your Affiliate contact. Offer them info on the things they love and apply humor when you can. And always smile when you talk on the phone. Believe it or not, you can hear a frown or somebodies bad attitude on the phone a mile away.

When considering some new campaigns to promote make sure you hit up your Affiliate Manager to get some insight into how other publishers are promoting the offers successfully. Your AM also has access to detailed stats about what creatives and LP's are performing the best along with information about estimated and average epc's for different promotion types.

When working on new campaigns, it's good to see why something wouldn't work.
This will help you find how to make it work. The key is to actually
implement.

Pushing affiliates to test offers that have a bad track record will
tarnish your relationship. Be honest and advise on what works. Know
your publishers track record as far as what he or she has had luck
with in the past. Also, let your publishers know where and when this
offers convert the best (traffic method, time of day, demographic,
etc). Be wary of test’s on the weekends as well as testing during
holiday weekends. With the 4th of July coming up traffic is going to
be slower and this might not be the most opportune time to have a high
volume publisher test one of your offers.

Affiliates: You don’t necessarily have to give out an incentive for users to
fill out an offer. If the offer has a value to the user, they will fill it
out regardless of incent or not. Try emailing your users with a non-incent
offer that would truly be valuable to them and see how they bite the bait
without any additional incentivization."

When looking to bring on new offers, think outside the box a bit. Sure, its nice to have the same old standbys that are tried and true, but if you can find that one "different" offer...one that will pique the interests of your publishers...you might find a diamond in the rough.

In order to save face, it's important to show your face once in a while.
When is the last time you attended an industry conference? This may be one
of the most valuable & rewarding trips of the year. Taking time out to meet
with people you do frequent business with can reap benefits beyond your
expectations. It's amazing what a quick 15 minute face to face meeting can
do for you and your bottom line.

Unexpected changes and last minute requests occur on a daily basis in this industry. To be successful (and to stay happy and sane!) you need to realize that this is just the nature of the business; it’s best to just smile and roll with the punches!

Remember, you only have one chance to make a first impression. Email and chat are good ways to introduce yourself, but don't stop there! Your customers need to know that you will be available when they need you, so pick up the phone, build rapport, and let your customers know that you care about their success.

"Tired of decreased conversions and increased competition in the US - why
not try international offers? English speaking countries such as the UK
would be a logical fit - just make sure to keep in mind the subtle
differences such as current currency conversion rates. Talk to your
affiliate managers - they will be able to recommend good international
campaigns for your traffic."
