DMA Conference

The DMA’s 87th
annual conference this year was held in New
Orleans. It had thousands of booths and
thousands of attendee’s. Filled with brick and
mortar printing companies to the interactive
start up with virtual offices. This huge
convention pulls together some of the largest
companies in the list and data management
space, from Experian to some of the up and
coming search engine networks.

Andrew Cohen,
CEO and founder of marketing consulting firm
Exposed Brick and a former magician, wooed
attendees at The DMA’s 87th Annual
Conference & Exhibition during the week with
an ongoing magic show that constantly provided
new insights for direct and interactive
marketers.
The floor had
everyone from Google.com through venture
capital firms. The DMA this year had a great
buzz. Seemed like most people who came had a
very positive attitude and outlook for fourth
quarter and beyond. The direct marketing
industry seems filled with a lot of potential
and a ton of companies looking to make their
offline experience pay off in the online
world.
The DMA is a
bit more formal than any of the Ad Tech
conventions and brings a bit of an older
crowd. However, it is still filled with nights
of parties and loads of liquor. Not that we
participated in any of the after hours
specials.
It will be
interesting to see how the overall feeling and
attendance is at Ad Tech New York this year.
This may be the first year where there is a
large over lap of attendee’s and exhibitors
between the two conferences. Companies will
attend hoping to build relationships and
business with both the offline consumer and
online consumer. The only way to accomplish
this is to have great relationships with
strong companies in both spaces.
The DMA and
upcoming Adtech are great venues to meet new
and old companies alike in a forum designed to
facilitate business and interest for a few
days in great cities.
The DMA 87th
Annual Conference & Exhibition ran through
Wednesday October 20th in New Orleans, LA.
